Non-Judgment & Non-Attachment

“TOLERANCE, COMPASSION AND PATIENCE”

Before you judge others or claim any absolute truth, consider that you can see less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum and hear less than 1% of the acoustic spectrum. As you read this, you are traveling at 220 kilometers per second across the galaxy. 90% of the cells in your body carry their own microbial DNA and are not you. The atoms in your body are 99.9999999999999999% empty space and none of them are the ones you were born with, but they all originated in the belly of a star. Human beings have 46 chromosomes, 2 less than the common potato. The existence of the rainbow depends on the conical photoreceptors in your eyes; to animals without cones, the rainbow does not exist. So you dont just look at a rainbow, you create it. This is pretty amazing, especially considering that all the beautiful colors you see represent less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum. ~ Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Theoretical Physicist

Becoming a more evolved being is about coming from a place of higher spiritual awareness and wisdom.  There are many characteristics of higher evolved beings and the first of these is being non-judgmental.  As we become more spiritually evolved, we also start to drop many of the illusionary fears that we think surround us.  As we drop those fears, we also drop judgment, as judgment only comes from a place of fear.  And since fear is the absence of love, then true love never judges.  Since our ultimate goal is to be closer to the God source, then we need to think and act like God.  God is love and pure intelligence and does not judge because God does not need anything.  So we must remember to not judge either.  As many spiritual teachers will remind us, forgiveness is the state of love and compassion that we should be striving for.  Being non-judgmental also means having forgiveness.  Being self-righteous only drives the ego to think it is superior to others, but we are all the same and no soul is any ‘better’ than any other.

Every soul still in the incarnation process on this planet is with some kind of area in their lives that is in need of refinement.  This means all of us are working on areas of our lives that could use improvement or enlightenment.  The evolved soul realizes this and can look at others with a sense of understanding and awareness so that they may offer ways to help improve that person’s choices.  We are all on different levels of evolution, so the more you evolve, the more experience and wisdom you can draw from in order to give back help others grow as well.  Any of these ‘lessons’ that we are here to grow from are there for our benefit.  So instead of coming from a place of judgment, come from a place of gratitude.  Surrender to these challenges that are laid out before you and see them as opportunities for growth and development.  They are only situations and do not define you as an eternal spirit, so there is no need to judge them.

“Surrender comes when you no longer ask ‘why is this happening to me?'” ~ Eckhart Tolle, Spiritual Teacher, Author, Stillness Speaks

This gets into the realm of non-attachment.  This state of being is different than being detached.  Being detached means not being present and aloof to what is happening around you.  Being non-attached is about accepting what is happening around you, but letting it pass through you without judgment or expectation.  It means accepting the moment or situation for what it is and not creating a story around it to justify or deny it.  When we attach an expectation to a situation then we also tend to resist it if it does not meet our expectations.  Instead, just let it come and go, as resistance causes an illusion of fear and anxiety.  This is what it means to surrender.  It is not a state of weakness or resignation, but of strength.  You still have the power to change any situation you wish, but being comfortable with not knowing the outcome of a situation is where you will find peace.  This way, you will find joy by just being in the moment and doing your best with whatever presents itself to you.  If you do that, then no one can ever justify any judgment against you.

So when you are doing your best under any circumstances, you can take any action you want without expecting any rewards, thereby alleviating unnecessary suffering.  Suffering occurs when you are attached.  Many people think that suffering is a necessary part of living on this planet so it becomes a reality for that person.  That is until they realize that it is not necessary.  This takes true strength and presence.  It also means coming to the realization that we do not own anything.  Whatever is present in our world is only there for our evolution and growth.  Our true spirits do not take possession of any single thing or situation.  In this way, we are free of suffering, resistance, and judgment.

Love

Striving to come from a place of pure love is striving to be more tolerant, compassionate and patient.  This also means dropping any guilt that you may associate with life’s situations or actions.  Guilt only comes from a place of fear and judgmentThere is no reason to have guilt about anything, as everything is part of an evolutionary process.  So becoming more tolerant towards what others are doing shows that you are more understanding of that person’s situation and state of awareness.  If they are not on the same level of awareness as you, that is alright.  You can teach or give guidance from a place of non-judgment and then let the outcome go.  Have understanding in the lack of understanding in others.  This is what it means to be compassionate.  If you are doing your best at giving and helping others then you are showing compassion.  Being compassionate also means being non-judgmental, not only for other people but for yourself as well.  You are bound to go off path just like any other person, so don’t be so harsh on yourself our give some unnecessary guilt-trip.  Have patience with the path that you are taking in life.  There is an eternity in which to work within.  What you may strive to accomplish now may take massive amounts of ‘time’ to truly master.  It is not going to happen overnight, nor should it.  Others are working on their own path of enlightenment as well so dropping expectations means having patience with any person or situation.  This kind of consciousness also means that you are coming from a place of love, as you are aware of the process of spiritual evolution and that all souls will develop within whatever frame of ‘time’ that they wish.
